How do I view web site traffic statistics using Webalizer, a third-party software program?

Webalizer is a complex stats program that produces a variety of charts and graphs about who has visited your site. To learn more about Webalizer, visit http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer/.

Viewing Webalizer Web Site Traffic Statistics

Webalizer web site traffic statistics are specific to each domain you have setup on your web site. Follow the instructions below to get started.

Steps

  1. When the "Webalizer Stats" page loads, you will see a two-column "Select a Domain" table consisting of the following information:Once you have chosen the domain you want to use for viewing Webalizer web site traffic statistics, the next page shows a "Usage summary" of pages, files, hits, visits, and sites for the last twelve (12) months. If your web site has not been online for the last twelve (12) months, the Webalizer "Usage summary" will show only those months your web site has been online.
    • Domain - This entry contains the domains you have setup on your web site.
    • View - Click on the "magnifying glass" icon to view the web site statistics for the associated domain using Webalizer.


  2. The second chart shows a "Summary by Month" for the last twelve (12) months your web site has been online. If your web site has not been online for the last twelve (12) months, the Webalizer "Summary by Month" will show only those months your web site has been online. This chart is useful as it shows the actual numbers for hits, files, pages, visits, sites, etc as values instead of a graphic chart representation of the data itself.
  3. Click on any of the available "month" links in the "Month" column.
  4. When the page loads, you will see the following links available:
    • Daily Statistics - The "Daily Statistics" shows both a bar chart and a numbers chart representation of hits, files, pages, visits, sites, and Kbytes.
    • Hourly Statistics - The "Hourly Statistics" shows both a bar chart and a numbers chart representation of hits, files, pages, visits, sites, and Kbytes.
    • URLs - The "URLs" tables show the top links access on your web site including hits, Kbytes, and the associated URL.
    • Entry - The "Entry" table shows the top entry pages accessed on your web site including hits, Kbytes, and the associated URL.
    • Exit - The "Exit" table shows the top entry pages accessed on your web site including hits, Kbytes, and the associated URL.
    • Sites - The "Sites" tables show the top visitors' hostnames used when accessing your web site including hits, files, Kbytes, visits, and the associated hostname.
    • Referrers - The "Referrers" table shows the URLs (referrers) used when accessing your web site including hits and the associated referrer.
    • Search - The "Search" table shows the top keywords or keyphrases visitors used to find your web site on search engines.

The "Search" table will not be shown unless visitors used keywords or keyphrases to find your web site on search engines.

  • Agents - The "Agents" table shows the top browser types such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla, FireFox, Netscape, including operating system type, etc visitors used when accessing your web site including hits and the associated user agent.
  • Countries - The "Countries" table shows the top visitors' countries used when accessing your web site including hits, files, Kbytes, and the associated country.
