The short answer is No. Although the cPanel interface implies that all user-created FTP accounts can use SFTP, only the main account can use SFTP. All FTP user accounts can use FTPS for secure connections but only the the main cPanel account can use SFTP. Both are secure options for transferring your files to your webserver but what is the difference?
- FTPS uses FTP with SSL for securing and encrypting the connection. SSL is the same protocol used for secure websites.
- SFTP uses the SSH File Transfer Protocol also known as Secure File Transfer Protocol. SFTP utilizes the Secure SHell to encrypt data between your computer and the server.
